Hello, and welcome to Hokkaido!
I'm a licensed English-speaking guide-interpreter based in eastern Hokkaido, specializing in the Doto (the eastern part of Hokkaido), Okhotsk, and northern regions — home to Shiretoko, Lake Akan, Lake Kussharo, and Lake Mashu — the wilder, quieter side of Hokkaido that public transport simply can't reach. With my own car, I can take you to places most visitors never get to see: the drift ice of the Okhotsk coast, the red-crowned cranes of Kushiro, the caldera lakes and forests of Akan-Mashu National Park, and the vast skies of Asahikawa, Kitami and Abashiri.
I hold a Ph.D. in life sciences, so beyond the sights themselves, I love sharing the "why" behind them — how this landscape shaped its wildlife, its fermented foods, and the way people here live alongside nature. My goal is to make your trip not just a sightseeing tour, but a real understanding of this land.
Winter here typically runs from December through March, with the driest, lightest powder usually falling from mid-January into February. As a certified ski instructor (SAJ), I can guide you on the slopes throughout the season — whether it's your first time on skis or you've come chasing Hokkaido's famous powder. I can tailor the day to different resorts around eastern Hokkaido, matching the terrain and conditions to your level. And depending on the resort or the specific run you want to ride, I can also help capture cool footage of you skiing or snowboarding, including "follow-cam" shots — something extra to bring home besides the memories.
Off the slopes, as a photographer, I'd also love to capture your journey more broadly. If you want a portrait that's a little more special than a phone photo — one that really shows the light and mood of this landscape — just let me know.
I'm looking forward to showing you a side of Hokkaido that few travelers get to experience. Let's make it a trip to remember.
