Hi, I’m Akari.

I love creating experiences that help travelers feel the real warmth, beauty, and everyday life of Japan — not just the famous tourist spots.

Having lived in many different parts of Japan including Yamagata, Hiroshima, Kobe, and Tokyo, as well as spending several years living in the United States, I have developed a very open-minded perspective and a deep appreciation for different cultures, lifestyles, and ways of thinking. Growing up in a family that moved frequently taught me how unique each region of Japan truly is, and I enjoy sharing those local differences and hidden cultural details with guests.

I especially love introducing travelers to traditional crafts, regional culture, and local food experiences. I studied textile and craft-related subjects in school, and I am passionate about Japanese craftsmanship such as Yamagata’s beautiful beni-bana dyeing culture. I also love cooking and used to teach bread making while living in the United States.

Before becoming a guide, I worked for four years as a medical interpreter mainly supporting international cruise guests, including many luxury travelers. Through this experience, I learned how to communicate carefully, flexibly, and professionally while helping guests feel comfortable and cared for.

I also founded a nonprofit organization focused on international exchange and have worked as an English teacher for children and adults since 2021. Meeting people from different backgrounds is something I truly enjoy.

In Yamagata, I can provide driving tours by car. In other regions, tours are mainly conducted using public transportation and taxis so guests can comfortably experience local life and scenery in a more natural way.
